(Sat 20 Feb 10) The sporty-looking DS3 on Citroen's stand at the Geneva Show next month will simply be what its maker describes as a "preview model", but it is quite definitely going to be followed by a production version.
The DS3 Racing has been tweaked by Citroen's motorsport department, which among other things has taken the 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine and boosted its maximum power output by a third to 200bhp. The suspension has been altered (making the car 15mm lower than standard), new wheels and tyres are used (making it 30mm wider), the brakes have been uprated and the ESP has been revised to allow for sportier driving, though it can also be switched off entirely if the driver is feeling brave. Just 1000 units will be built, and sales are expected to start in the second half of this year. We wouldn't be entirely surprised if there were none left by Christmas. |
