| Nissan Pathfinder And Navara Revised | ||
|
(Tue 23 Feb 10) Nissan has given what it describes as a "mid-term boost" to the Navara pickup and its close relative, the Pathfinder SUV. Both have been mildly restyled, while there have been various improvements to the interior. Most of these are designed to increase the impression of quality, though for reasons of practicality the door pockets have been enlarged to the point where they can now hold an A3 map.
A speed limiter function has been added to the cruise control system, and the Navara now gets ESP and a rear view camera, both of which were previously available only in the Pathfinder. The familiar four-cylinder 2.5-litre dCi turbo diesel engine has been uprated, and now produces a maximum of 187bhp, but combined fuel economy has improved to 33.2mpg and CO2 emissions have fallen to 224g/km. The 2.5 is, however, no longer the only choice in the range, since Nissan has introduced a 228bhp three-litre turbo diesel V6. Clearly it provides better straightline performance than the 2.5, but perhaps more significant to potential owners is that it also raises the towing limit of both models from 3000kg to 3500kg. Both the Navara and the Pathfinder come in two trim levels called Acenta and Tekna, with the latter including the option of automatic transmission. Prices start at £16,895 plus VAT for the Navara and £28,495 including VAT for the Pathfinder. Comment on this story on Facebook or Twitter.
