Audi Plants Trees

(Fri 08 Jan 10)

As well as going to some lengths to reduce the average official CO2 output of its cars, Audi has attempted to keep the stuff out of the atmosphere by creating a CO2 reservoir - or, to put it another way, it has planted a forest.

Audi And Oak Leaves.

Or, to put it a third way, it has contributed to the funding of a forest. 36,000 oak trees have been planted at Koesching, near Audi's plant in Ingolstadt, Germany, with further support coming from the Bavarian State Forestry and the Chair of Forest Yield Science at the Technical University of Munich. There had been a forest at Koesching in the past, but it was brought to its knees in 2007 after being attacked by drought, storms and bark beetles.

This is the first of several planned tree-planting exercises in which Audi is involved. Another site, near an Audi factory in Hungary, will receive 13,000 oaks, and similar projects will follow.
