As it did once before, nearly twenty years ago, Renault has created a new version of the Clio which has been designed to look sporty without being expensive to run.

The Clio S is a three-door based on the Expression trim level and with a choice of 1.2 turbo and non-turbo petrol engines or the 1.5 dCi turbo diesel. There is a choice of four colours - the Capsicum Red shown here, along with Glacier White, Pearl Black and Extreme Blue - but in every case white is the colour of the 16" alloy wheels, the front bumper insert, the rear spoiler and, inside, the centre console, dashboard inserts and dials. As you can see, white racing stripes on the roof and sides are also available, but they're optional extras.

In contrast to all this white, the rear side and tailgate windows are tinted. The specification also includes the letter S embossed in the upholstery.

The S is available to order now and will appear in Renault showrooms in March. Prices range from £11,209 for the non-turbo 1.2 petrol and extend to £13,458 for the 1.5 dCi.
