(Mon 01 Mar 10) Just five days after announcing that its new RS 5 Coupé would cost "in the region of" £58,500, Audi has confirmed that the list price will in fact be £57,480.
As previously reported, the RS 5 uses a 444bhp 4.2-litre V8 petrol engine which drives all four wheels through an uprated version of the familiar quattro four-wheel drive system and a reinforced seven-speed S tronic twin-clutch semi-automatic gearbox. Top speed is limited to 155mph, while the 0-62mph time is 4.6 seconds. Combined fuel economy is official 26.2mpg, a figure which is better than it might have been thanks to Audi's use of on-demand oil pump operation and a system of recovering energy lost during coasting and braking to recharge the battery (thereby taking some of that work away from the alternator, which therefore creates less drag on the engine). Standard equipment includes 265/35 tyres on 19" wheels, black silk nappa leather upholstery, electrically adjustable sports seats, three-zone climate control air-conditioning, a 180-watt sound system, front and rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring and a multifunction steering wheel with aluminium-look paddles for manual gearchanges. If you're prepared to pay more than the basic £57,480, you can also have 20" wheels, a sports exhaust system, HDD-based satellite navigation, adaptive cruise control and an upgrade to a 505-watt Bang & Olufsen audio. |
