550bhp Porsche Cayenne
(Friday 12 October 2012)

A new and extraordinarily fast version of the Porsche Cayenne will go on sale in the UK in January.
The 4.8-litre V8 engine in the new Turbo S produces a maximum of 550bhp, or a full 10% more than you get in the current range-topper, the Cayenne Turbo.
That extra power takes the top speed up to 175mph and the 0-62mph time down to 4.5 seconds. This might not seem like much of an advance on the Turbo's 173mph and 4.7 seconds, but in real life the S should feel considerably quicker.
Visual evidence that this is the new leader of the Cayenne pack comes in the form of 21" wheels and gloss black paint for the air inlet grilles, the headlight surrounds and the lower part of the door mirrors.
Inside, there's a choice of two-tone leather upholstery arrangements developed specifically for the Turbo S. One of the colours is black in each case, the other either Carrera Red or Luxor Beige, according to customer preference.
The Turbo S costs £107,460 - no small sum, certainly, but it does include equipment not always available as standard on other Porsche models, such as active damping, Dynamic Chassis Control, Torque Vectoring Plus, the Sport Chrono Package and the Thatcham Category 5 Vehicle Tracking System.
More conventionally, in Porsche terms, the price also includes a complimentary course at the Porsche Experience Centre, located a matter of yards away from the Silverstone Grand Prix course.
