Aston Martin V12 Zagato Preview

(Thursday 9 February 2012)

Aston Martin V12 Zagato.

This is the first official image of the production-ready Aston Martin V12 Zagato, which will make its world debut at the Geneva Show in early March (the cars displayed at the Villa d'Este concours event in Italy last May and subsequently raced at the Nürburgring 24-hour event having been prototypes).

Zagato-badged Astons have been created at irregular intervals for more than half a century, and they have always been very special. This one is described by its maker as "the pinnacle of the Vantage range" (though the Vantage name isn't being used) but it also has a close relationship with the One-77, both cars using either aluminium or carbonfibre for the body panels. The last part of the build process, which lasts for around 2000 man-hours, takes place in the part of the factory at Gaydon in Warwickshire originally created for One-77 production.

Four new paint colours - Scintilla Silver, Alloro Green, Alba Blue and Diavolo Red - have been created for the Zagato, and the interior is upholstered by the award-winning Bridge of Weir Leather company from seven hides.

The 510bhp Zagato is officially on sale now, but won't actually go into production until the second half of this year. First deliveries are due in the third quarter. A maximum of 150 cars will be built, and their starting price (without any optional extras) is £396,000 including VAT for UK customers.
