BMW London Olympics Specials
(Tuesday 12 July 2011)

To celebrate its status as official automotive partner of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games, BMW has created Performance Edition versions of the 1-Series and 3-Series.
The idea in each case is that the cars are based on the ES trim level but have far more equipment for relatively little extra money. Both come with 18" alloy wheels, a bodykit, a chrome exhaust tailpipe, a leather-trimmed multifunction steering wheel, sports seats, floor mats and London 2012 badging, while the 1-Series also gets M Sport suspension, dark line rear lights and high-gloss Shadowline exterior trim.
The 1-Series Performance Edition is available in 116i, 116d and 118d forms, and with three or five doors. Prices start at £19,530 for the 116i three-door, which is £1500 more than you're asked to pay for the equivalent ES, though because of the extra equipment BMW says this represents a saving of £1725.
There are two versions of the 3-Series - a 318i and a 318d - and they cost £500 more than the ES, giving a stated saving of £2030. Prices start at £23,195 for the 318i.
