On sale in America since last year, the latest version of the iconic Chevrolet Camaro will go on sale in the UK in the first of half of 2011.

The particular model that will be brought over here is the top-spec Camaro, with a 426bhp 6.2-litre V8 engine which gives the car a 0-60mph of under five seconds. Top speed is limited to 155mph.

Unlike previous cars of this type, the new Camaro should be more than just a straightline special, since it has what Chevrolet describes as a dynamic chassis which "thankfully" owes little to the layout of more traditional muscle cars (the word "thankfully" being Chevrolet's own).

Further details, including pricing, will be announced nearer the UK launch.
