Chevrolet Camaro On Sale Now
(Tuesday 14 February 2012)

Ordering for the latest in a very long line of Chevrolet Camaros has opened in the UK, with prices starting at £34,995. For that you get the Coupé with a 426bhp 6.2-litre V8 engine and a six-speed manual gearbox driving - naturally - the rear wheels only.
There's a Convertible too, and that costs £39,995. For a limited period you can choose the 45th Anniversary special edition (pictured), which is painted in Carbon Flash Black with red and silver stripes, has red, white and blue stitching on the leather upholstery and, alone among Camaros, gets white-backed instruments. It's available in both body styles and costs an extra £1500.
Another thing costing £1500 is the optional six-speed automatic transmission. Cars fitted with this also have detuned engines, though their maximum output of 399bhp is still pretty serious. One result of the reduced power is that the automatics actually do better than the manuals in terms of fuel economy and CO2 emissions, though in both cases these are rubbish and horrifying respectively.
Another is a rise in the 0-62mph time, though all Camaros regardless of transmission or body style can do this in between 5.2 and 5.6 seconds. The top speed doesn't vary, being electronically limited to 155mph.
