Fiat 500 TwinAir Times Two
(Friday 1 July 2011)

TwinAir has so far been the name for the two-cylinder engine most recently fitted to the Fiat 500, but from now on it's also going to be a trim level. Four new versions have been introduced to the range - hatchbacks and convertible in both TwinAir and TwinAir Plus guises.
All of them have been designed to look sporty, with a spoiler, a chrome exhaust tailpipe, a metallic-effect dashboard, fancy seats and matt black alloy wheels. Those wheels are 15" in diameter on the TwinAir, 16" on the TwinAir Plus, and the Plus also gets tinted windows, body-coloured door mirrors, automatic climate control (an upgrade from the more conventional air-conditioning on the basic TwinAir), a leather gearknob, a sports leather multifunction steering wheel and Fiat's Blue&Me connectivity.
Prices for the TwinAir start at £11,600, with the Plus costing £1100 more. The TwinAir engine is also available in the £12,700 500 Lounge (whose revised specification now includes automatic climate control air-conditioning as standard), though no longer in the Pop. Equivalent 500C convertible versions cost an extra £2800, as they do elsewhere in the range.
