(Fri 05 Feb 10) Big fans of the sport of hillclimbing that we are, we're pleased to pass on details of the 2010 season at the celebrated Harewood course. Harewood, set in the outstandingly attractive Wharfe valley between Leeds and Harrogate, is an exceptionally busy venue, with no fewer than eleven events held between April and September, and if you become a member of the organising club you can buy a season ticket for the astonishingly low price of £35.
Two of the meetings, in May and July, are rounds of the British Hillclimb Championship, and at these you will be able to see the fastest cars of their type - not unlike F1 cars but specifically designed for this branch of the sport - in action. Near the top of the course they reach a top speed of 120mph on a very narrow piece of road which then challenges the drivers by turning sharp right immediately before the finish line.
Full information for both spectators and competitors, plus some excellent in-car videos, can be found at www.harewoodhill.com. Comment on this story on Facebook or Twitter. Previous: Toyota Prius Brakes Next: Nissan 370Z Black Edition |
