Hyundai Veloster Turbo Pricing
(Tuesday 28 August 2012)
The turbocharged version of Hyundai's quirky-looking three-door Veloster coupé will arrive in UK dealerships on September 24, priced at £21,995.
As previously mentioned, the 1.6-litre petrol engine produces a maximum of 183bhp, and it drives the front wheels through a six-speed gearbox whose ratios are (quite correctly, though not obviously for a higher-performance vehicle) more widely spaced than in non-turbo Velosters.
The Turbo SE, as it's called, has a top speed of 133mph and a 0-62mph time of 8.4 seconds. Official fuel economy and CO2 emissions are 40.9mpg and 157g/km respectively.
Several visual elements distinguish the Turbo SE from other cars in the range, such as 18" alloy wheels, redesigned front and rear bumpers and foglights, a new front grille, a larger rear spoiler, twin exhaust outlets, a moulded side sill and - in case you still hadn't got the message - the word "Turbo" in red letters on the bottom right of the bootlid.
Standard equipment includes leather upholstery, satellite navigation, rear parking sensors and an eight-speaker sound system. Available at extra cost are a tilt-and-slide sunroof (£950) and two colour schemes - Phantom Black Pearl (£445) and Matt Grey (£525). If you don't want to pay extra for paint, you have to make do with solid white.
