(Tue 27 Apr 10) The Ford Fiesta, which has been at the top of the UK registrations for many months, has undergone some minor improvements. All versions ordered from now on will be fitted with an electronic stability programme (ESP) as standard, and all diesels come with a particulate filter, so they meet the forthcoming Euro 5 exhaust emission requirements.
The 1.25-litre petrol engine and the 94bhp and 118bhp versions of the 1.6 unit have all had their CO2 emissions reduced by a few grams per kilometre. This is really significant only in the case of the 1.25, whose drop from 133g/km to 129g/km moves it down one VED band and means that owners will have to pay £30 in tax each year rather than the previous £90. There are some equipment changes too. Studio models now come with heated door mirrors, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, an aux-in jack and two extra speakers, while the range-topping Titanium gets Bluetooth connectivity and a USB connection (previously a £200 option) as standard. A new paint colour, called Ink Blue, is available across the range. |
