An MG For Your Banger

(Monday 17 September 2012)

MG has announced a trade-in offer which makes the UK Government's scrappage scheme (remember that?) look almost tame. The arrangement is that if you hand over your existing car as part of the deal, you get £3000 off the list price of an MG6.

In the case of the entry-level MG6 GT S, that means you'll pay £12,455 for your new car. And the trade-in vehicle can be pretty much anything. The only restriction is that it has to have an MOT certificate valid for at least 14 days.

Another enticement to buy an MG involves new owners being given a Fuel Genie card with a value of £2400, which MG estimates should keep you going for 15,000 miles (depending, of course, on fuel price fluctuations and driving style). The card can be used only at Tesco and Morrisons supermarket petrol stations, and the offer is separate from the trade-in one, so you can't have both.
