MINI Highgate Convertible
(Friday 3 February 2012)

The latest in the increasingly long line of London-themed MINI special editions - the most recent, announced only a couple of weeks ago, being the Baker Street and Bayswater - is the Highgate, which is available with a wide choice of engines but only in the Convertible body style.
As intended by MINI, the Highgate is available in a new metallic paint colour called Iced Chocolate (brownish) with a contrasting Silvertouched Truffle (lighter brownish) for the roof, though if you're not in the mood for that sort of thing you can specify either Midnight Black metallic or White Silver metallic as an option.
The alloy wheels are 17" in diameter, and their spoke design is influenced by the diagonal bits of the Union Jack.
Leather upholstery in yet another shade of brown, called Dark Truffle, is standard, and so are the Chrome Line Interior and Exterior packages, as well as the Chilli Pack, which as MINI enthusiasts will need no reminding consists of automatic air-conditioning, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, a multifunction steering wheel and colour-adjustable interior lights.
The Highgate is available with the 122bhp Cooper, 184bhp Cooper S, 112bhp Cooper D and 143bhp Cooper SD engines (the first two running on petrol, the others on diesel). All come with either six-speed manual transmission or, for between £1135 and £1275 depending on model, a six-speed automatic. On-the-road prices range from £21,300 for the Cooper manual to £26,050 for the Cooper SD auto.
