New Entry-Level Jaguar XF
(Monday 16 January 2012)
Jaguar seems to be daring itself to produce ever less powerful versions of the XF saloon. Following last year's introduction of a 187bhp 2.2-litre turbo diesel reviewed here, Jaguar dealers are now taking orders for another version using the same engine but with the lower output of 161bhp.
Pricing starts from £29,950, making this the cheapest car in the XF range (the 187bhp version costs £1000 more). For that money you get part-leather upholstery, a centrally mounted touchscreen display, electronic climate control air-conditioning and an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
On the EU test cycle the new model achieves 52.3mpg combined fuel economy and 149g/km CO2 emissions. The 187bhp car does exactly the same, so this one will be no cheaper to tax, though it will probably use less fuel in everyday driving.
First deliveries of the new XF are expected to take place in March.
