Nissan has confirmed the pricing of its new electric car, the Leaf, which goes on sale here in February next year. The list price is £28,350, though hardly anyone will pay that, since the Leaf is subject to a £5000 refund from the UK Government, bringing the cost down to £23,350. Customers will also be able to buy the Leaf through a finance plan whose details will be announced before Nissan starts taking orders in July.

The Leaf will go on sale in Portugal and the Netherlands in December, and in Ireland in February, priced slightly higher than in the UK (though also with financial incentives of one sort or another). By the end of 2011 the Leaf will be available in all major western European countries.
