Nissan Reveals New Small Hatch
(Monday 6 February 2012)

A concept version of the hatchback which Nissan will put on sale in the UK in 2013 has been revealed prior to its world debut at next month's Geneva Show.
Known for the moment as the Invitation (though we'd be surprised to see that name survive to production), the car is based on the same platform as the Micra and the Renault Clio. In among various "well they would say that, wouldn't they?" claims is one which looks both important and achievable, namely that Nissan intends to have at least one model in the range with CO2 emissions of less than 100g/km, making that one exempt from Vehicle Excise Duty and the London congestion charge.
There is also the promise of much technology which is used in larger models but is taking time to trickle down to ones of this size. One of these is Nissan's Around View Monitor system, which hasn't been seen on a small hatchback before and which helps with both reversing and parallel parking.
Nissan will also use Geneva to display the Juke Nismo concept (fitted with GT-R running gear), the e-NV200 electric seven-seater and another vehicle which won't be officially spoken about until the show starts.
