Paris 2012: Renault Clio

(Thursday 27 September 2012)

Renault Clio.

The fourth-generation Renault Clio, with its new engines, styling that hints at what future new Renaults will look like and a considerable number of models emitting less than 99g/km of CO2 (in one case as little as 83g/km), has made its world debut at the Paris Show.

The information relating to the new model, including some surprising new technology, is as we reported it back in July, so rather than repeating it here we'll invite you to look at our that article. Likewise, information about the Renaultsport 200 version, the first hot Clio ever to be fitted with a turbocharged engine, can be found here.

One extra piece of news is that, as well as the hatchback shown above, there will be an estate model with an extra eight inches of bodywork behind the rear wheels and 30% more luggage space.

Unlike its predecessor, however, this will not be sold in the UK, diminishing the already undernourished supermini estate market and leaving the field open to the Skoda Fabia and SEAT Ibiza.
