Paris 2012: Toyota Auris Estate

In addition to giving the new Auris its world debut at the Paris Show (UK pricing and specifications here), Toyota has unveiled an estate version called the Touring Sports.

It has the same wheelbase as the hatchback but is nearly a foot longer, all in the interests of increasing luggage space to an as yet unspecified degree. Loading should be easy enough, as the rear sill is more than three inches lower than the one in the hatchback.

Going by the general trend in mid-sized family car demand across Europe, the Touring Sports should increase overall Auris sales by about a third - or perhaps more, given that one version will be the only hybrid estate of its size on the market.
