Peugeot 208 XY
(Friday 7 September 2012)

At the Geneva Show back in March, Peugeot displayed two concept versions of its new 208 supermini called the GTi and the XY. At the time we were confident that at least one of them would make it into production, and sure enough the GTi is scheduled to enter the UK market next spring, but now Peugeot has confirmed that the XY will also be sold.
The XY is largely about style, though it's also well-equipped with 17" alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control air-conditioning, a speed limiter with cruise control, a front armrest and a 7" touchscreen controlling this and that. The options list is extensive, and includes leather upholstery, heated seats, an alarm and dynamic cornering lighting.
Two 1.6-litre e-HDi turbo diesel engines (all giving the car CO2 emissions of under 100g/km) are being offered in the XY, along with 120bhp and 156bhp petrol units. Pricing has yet to be confirmed.
