Porsche Cayenne S Diesel
(Wednesday 12 September 2012)

A second diesel-fuelled model will be added to the Porsche Cayenne SUV range in January. The S Diesel uses a new 4.2-litre V8 engine with a maximum power output of 381bhp, giving it a 0-62mph time of 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 157mph.
It will go through fuel at a fearsome rate if you use it like that, of course, but in the more restrained circumstances of the EU fuel economy test the S Diesel can achieve 34.0mpg, partly thanks to the inclusion of a start/stop system. Official CO2 emissions are 218g/km, making the S Diesel in this respect the third best of a now eight-car line-up, behind the regular Diesel and the petrol-electric S Hybrid.
Without options (like that's going to happen), the S Diesel is priced at £58,243, for which you get 18" alloy wheels, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, eight-way adjustment for the front seats, a 7" touchscreen, a three-year warranty and a day's tuition at the Silverstone-based Porsche Experience Centre.
