Quick Vauxhall Astra Diesels
(Wednesday 1 August 2012)

Vauxhall is extending the availability of its most powerful production diesel ever by introducing it to the Astra hatchback and Sports Tourer estate.
The 192bhp two-litre twin-turbo unit, already being used in the Insignia and Astra GTC, gives both new models the rather vaguely described performance figures of 0-60mph in "under eight seconds" and flat out at "in excess of 135mph". More precisely, combined fuel economy and CO2 emissions are quoted as being 55.4mpg and 134g/km respectively.
The BiTurbo models, as they're called, feature 18" alloy wheels, twin exhaust tailpipes, a body styling pack and alloy pedals. Priced from £24,095 for the hatch and £25,110 for the Sports Tourer, they will be available to order from tomorrow (August 2), with customer deliveries starting towards the end of this year.
