| SEAT Reveals New Alhambra | ||

(Mon 19 Apr 10) SEAT has given details of the new Alhambra MPV, which is also essentially the new Volkswagen Sharan. The current Alhambra (see road test) is still largely unchanged from its introduction in the mid-1990s, so the new one is obviously going to feel a lot more up-to-date.
It's also larger, by 22cm in length and 9cm in width. Luggage volume is 885 litres when five seats are in place and 2297 litres when all but the front two are folded. A total of seven seats are available, and none of them have to be physically removed from the car - those in the second and third rows instead fold into the floor. Access to the rear is through sliding doors which, like the tailgate, can operate electrically (depending on model). Exact UK details haven't been confirmed yet, but SEAT is talking about a choice of two petrol and two diesel engines, all turbocharged, with power outputs ranging from 138bhp to 198bhp. Optional equipment includes a DSG twin-clutch semi-automatic gearbox, bi-xenon headlights, park assist, three-zone climate control air-conditioning and a panoramic sunroof. |
