UK Pricing For 2012 Fiat Punto

(Monday 30 January 2012)

Fiat Punto GBT.

The revised Fiat Punto is on sale now, priced from £9990 to £15,600. For the moment it's on sale with a choice of six engines - 69bhp 1.2 petrol, 77bhp 1.4 petrol, 105bhp and 135bhp MultiAir 1.4 petrol and 75bhp and, for the first time, 85bhp 1.3 MultiJet turbo diesel - but from April the 85bhp two-cylinder TwinAir already used in the 500 will be added to the list. All seven have a start/stop system to reduce fuel consumption in heavy traffic.

The trim-level line-up has changed and now consists of, reading from the bottom up, Pop, Easy, GBT and Lounge. Pop models have remote central locking, electric front (but not rear) windows, a radio/CD/MP3 player, electric power steering and a height-adjustable driver's seat, while Easy specification includes all of that plus 15" alloy wheels, a leather-rimmed steering wheel and air-conditioning.

GBT, which could stand for a quite remarkable number of diverse things, is the version which Fiat will use in its advertising to emphasise its connection with British cycling. It's based on Easy but adds sportier suspension, a rear spoiler and side skirts.

Finally, Lounge models get climate control air-conditioning, front foglights, cruise control, ambient interior lighting and an electrically-operated sunroof.

As before, the Punto is available in three- and five-door body styles, and although most models have manual gearboxes there's a £500 option of automatic transmission on some of them.
