Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line Returns
(Wednesday 3 October 2012)

What, you may ask, ever happened to the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line? There used to be such a thing, but the R-Line trim level was dropped when VW devised the second-generation model.
Well, now it's back, and if Volkswagen's predictions are correct it will account for about a quarter of all Tiguan sales in the UK.
A step up from the Tiguan SE, the R-Line comes with 18" silver alloy wheels, black wheelarch extensions, bi-xenon headlights, sports seats, two-tone upholstery, a multifunction leather steering wheel, stainless steel pedals and a good deal of R-Line branding.
There are three versions, all of them with six-speed manual transmission. The cheapest to run and buy is the £28,020 2.0 TDI 140 BlueMotion Technology diesel (48.7mpg combined fuel economy, 150g/km CO2 emissions, insurance group 18E), the quickest is the £28,435 2.0 TSI 210 turbo petrol (33.2mpg, 199g/km, 22E) and the most initially costly is the £28,700 2.0 TDI 170 (47.1mpg, 158g/km, 20E).
