Window Option For Renault Twizy
(Monday 29 October 2012)
In the nearly thirteen-year history of CARkeys we have never yet run a news story about a manufacturer offering side windows as an optional extra. Definitely not. We're sure we'd have remembered. But now that time has come.
The manufacturer in question is Renault, and the car is the deeply eccentric Twizy. Some Twizys (Twizies? Twizums?) don't even have doors, but for those that do Renault is now offering a kit consisting of a metal frame and a flexible window that zips into it.
The window has two slits in it to prevent interior misting, Renault having understandably not gone to the trouble of fitting the Twizy with air-conditioning. A third opening allows you to reach through and open or close the window, and to get hold of the doorhandle.
The kit will be available from Renault dealers from the end of November, and costs £295 including VAT. And yes, that's for two windows, or a complete Twizy's worth. We asked so you don't have to.
