While 2020 might have slowed down the amount of new cars coming to market due to the coronavirus pandemic, it’s still been a seriously exciting year for new motors.
But 2021 looks to be even bigger and better, with a whole mix of new models on the way from various manufacturers – including a range of new EVs, but also some performance cars that have a lot of expectation riding on them.

Ford Mustang Mach-E
By the time the Mustang Mach-E arrives in the UK next year, it will have been more than 12 months since Ford first showcased this hugely important new electric car.
It’s the firm’s first bespoke EV and aims to impress with its Mustang-inspired styling, strong performance and impressive range of up to 379 mile. It’s available to pre-order now, with prices starting from a smidgen over £40,000.

The Fiat 500 is an icon when it comes to affordable and cool motoring, and in 2021 the manufacturer is introducing a new electric model.
It’s far from just a standard Fiat 500 with an electric motor though, as this is a brand new model utilising a new platform and getting the latest tech, while an electric range of 199 miles is very promising.

If you want one of the best driving saloons, you need to take a look at the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio.
And the Italian manufacturer is taking things up another level next year with an extreme limited-run model – the GTA. Getting more power, a host of performance tweaks and extreme styling, it’ll be the hottest Alfa Romeo in years.

BMW has watched Tesla get its own way in the electric saloon game for too long, and next year it aims to change that when it launches the i4 – its first four-door EV.
Set to offer a range of 373 miles and produce nearly 600bhp, it’s an electric car that’s definitely worth getting excited about.

Volvo is a manufacturer known for its electrified models, with the Swedish firm offering a plug-in hybrid version of every car it sells, and it’s the XC40 SUV that’s by far Volvo’s best-selling car.
It’s this car that will also serve as the base for the brand’s first EV, when Volvo installs a punchy 400bhp electric motor and battery allowing for 250 miles of range. It comes at a price, though, as it costs nearly £50,000.

Hyundai has already shown it knows how to produce a superb hot hatch with its i30 N, but until now it’s been the only model from the firm to get the full ‘N’ treatment.
But Hyundai is changing that, with hot versions of the i20, Kona and Tucson in the pipeline. And it’s the i20 N we’re most excited about it, as it should be superb to drive.

Skoda’s little Citigo-e iV may have been the firm’s first EV, but next year it will introduce a new bespoke electric car – the Enyaq SUV.
Featuring the same underpinnings as the impressive new Volkswagen ID.3, it aims to impress with its generously-sized interior, strong performance and electric range of up to 316 miles.

The Mustang Mach-E isn’t the only Ford we’re waiting in anticipation for in 2021, as the firm’s new Puma ST will also go on sale next year as well.
It’s the brand’s first performance crossover, and utilises the same underpinnings as the award-winning Ford Fiesta ST – meaning it should be an absolute hoot to drive.
