2015 Vauxhall Astra pricing confirmed

Vauxhall has announced pricing and specification details for its next-generation Astra hatchback, which will start from £15,295.

Arriving in showrooms this October, the 2015 Astra hatchback has a more simplified range than its predecessor, comprising of five main trim levels and four powertrains from launch.

Although the starting price is higher than rivals such as the Ford Focus, Vauxhall says the Astra’s new specifications are up to £2,200 cheaper than the equivalent outgoing predecessors.

The engines include an entry-level 1.4-litre petrol engine with 98bhp and the 103bhp 1.0-litre turbo petrol that debuted on the latest Corsa. There’s also a 1.4-litre turbo petrol with 197bhp and a 109bhp 1.6-litre Whisper diesel supported by stop-start engine technology.

The diesel is the most efficient engine for the 2015 Astra, recording a claimed fuel economy of 91.1mpg and CO2 emissions of just 82g/km. These figures closely match the rivalling Peugeot 308 hatchback with its 1.6-litre BlueHDi diesel.

Trim levels begin with Design, which features 16-inch alloy wheels and LED daytime running lights. Other standard kit includes air conditioning, a seven-inch colour touchscreen, cruise control, front and rear electric windows and Bluetooth connectivity.

The next trim level following Design is Tech Line, starting from £15,995, which adds sat-nav and a bigger eight-inch colour touchscreen plus voice recognition. Following Tech Line is Energy (from £17,295), SRi (from £17,895) and Elite (from £19,315).

Both the SRi and Elite trims can be upgraded with the Nav pack that adds the eight-inch touchscreen-controlled sat-nav.
