2016 Ford Edge prices confirmed

The all-new Ford Edge SUV is now available to order in Britain, with prices starting at £29,995.

Set to arrive to UK dealerships during this summer, the Edge sits above both the EcoSport and Kuga in Ford’s SUV line-up. Each specification in the Ford Edge range uses a 2.0-litre TDCi diesel engine and comes with four-wheel drive as standard.

Ford Edge engines and specifications

The £29,995 starting price is for the Zetec trim model, which delivers 178bhp from its diesel and utilises a standard six-speed manual gearbox. In comparison to SUV competitors, the Ford Edge’s starting price is about a few grand less than premium brand entries such as the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5.

Next in the Edge line-up are two Titanium trim models, one that uses the same diesel powertrain as the Zetec but priced from £32,245. For £34,495, the Edge Titanium uses a 208bhp diesel with a six-speed automatic gearbox.

This choice of powertrains also comes with the Sport trim version of the Edge, which costs £34,495 in 178bhp form or £36,745 in 208bhp form.

Ford says that both powertrains for the Edge aim to deliver up to 48.7mpg combined and CO2 emissions starting from 149g/km.

The Edge’s four-wheel drive system can measure how well the car’s wheels are gripping every 16 milliseconds and is capable of sending 100 per cent of the engine torque to the front or rear wheels.

Ford Edge equipment

Standard kit for every Edge SUV includes Ford’s DAB Audio system with SYNC 2 connectivity supported, 19-inch alloy wheels, privacy glass and the camera and radar-based Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection.

The latter feature is a driving safety aid that can operate at speeds between 5mph and 110mph and can apply the brakes if a potential collision is detected and the driver does not respond to warnings.

Optional tech that can be added to the Ford Edge includes adaptive steering and a front wide-view camera.
