2016 Kia Optima pricing confirmed

Kia has confirmed the price range for the new Kia Optima saloon, which goes on sale today priced from £21,495.

The new Optima range initially comprises of three trim levels, called 2, 3 and 4. Kia will add more trims, called GT-Line and GT, to the range later during 2016. All versions of the new Optima use a 1.7-litre turbodiesel engine which produces 139bhp and 340Nm of torque. Compared to the previous diesel-run Optima, the new model has 5bhp and 15Nm more than before.

Kia’s 1.7-litre turbodiesel can be hooked up to either a six-speed manual gearbox or seven-speed dual-clutch. The latter is available for the 3 trim model, mandatory for the 4 model, but the 2 trim uses a manual gearbox only. Stop-start engine technology is standard across the whole Optima range.

With the manual gearbox, the 0-62mph sprint time for the 2016 Optima is 9.7 seconds and combined fuel economy and CO2 emissions are recorded at 67.3mpg and 110g/km respectively. Using the dual-clutch gearbox, these figures are adjusted to 10.6 seconds, 64.2mpg and 116g/km.

The 2 trim, which has the starting price of £21,495, comes as standard with a sat-nav system with a seven-inch display screen, a reversing camera, dual automatic air conditioning, cruise control.

Step up to the 3 trim, priced from £23,495, and you get a larger eight-inch screen for the sat nav as well as extra luxuries such as heated front seats and an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. Other additions include 18-inch alloy wheels and LED front foglights.

For those that go for the range-topping 4 trim, starting at £28,895, the Optima features a 360-degree Around View Monitor, wireless mobile phone charger, a tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof and black leather upholstery.
