2016 Mercedes C-Class Coupe unveiled

Mercedes has revealed the first details and pictures of its new C-Class Coupe, which will make its public debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show this September. Sales will then start this December.

The Coupe is the third bodystyle to be made available for the latest C-Class, following the arrivals of the saloon and estate variants. A new C-Class Cabriolet is next in line and is likely to make its public debut next March at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

The new and sleek-looking two-door C-Class Coupe has a lower ride height than the saloon by 15mm and is available with an optional AMG sport body kit. It’s also wider and has a longer wheelbase when compared to the previous generation C-Class Coupe. As a result it manages to offer more passenger space within than its predecessor, but it’s also lighter in comparison.

Engine options for the new C-Class Coupe comprises of several four-cylinder petrol and diesel units, all coming with stop-start technology as standard. Petrol choices include a 154bhp 1.6-litre unit and a 2.0-litre unit offering outputs of 181bhp, 208bhp or 242bhp. The couple of diesels also available can produce between 168bhp and 201bhp.

A six-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive is standard, but a seven or nine-speed automatic ‘box plus 4Matic four-wheel drive are both available depending on the choice of specification.

Air suspension is an optional driving feature that allows the ability to select one of five driving modes via a “Dynamic Select” switch. The settings include “ECO”, “Comfort”, “Sport”, “Sport+” and a customisable choice called “Individual”.

Standard luxury kit for the new C-Class Coupe includes sports seats and a media system with Bluetooth connectivity.
