2016 Toyota Prius pricing announced

Toyota has announced pricing and specification details for the all-new Prius hybrid. It will start from £23,295 and customer deliveries are expected to start next March.

The starting price of the new Prius is £1,300 more compared to the outgoing model. However, the family car now features more equipment as standard.

Included for the new Prius in the standard Active trim is dual-zone climate control, LED headlamps, a touchscreen infotainment system, DAB radio and a keyless engine start button.

Each new Prius as standard also receives an extensive line-up safety kit from Toyota’s Safety Sense bundle. This includes autonomous emergency braking, lane departure alert, road sign reading and a radar and sensor based pre-collision warning that can detect other cars and pedestrians.

The next trim level up, the Business Edition, starts from £24,195 and is targeted predominantly at company car drivers. This version features a head-up display, heated front seats, a wireless phone charger, blind spot monitoring, sat-nav and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Topping the new Prius range is the Excel trim which is priced from £27,450 and adds leather upholstery, rain-sensing wipers and a JBL premium audio system.

In similar fashion to previous Prius models, the new Toyota’s hybrid powertrain combines a 1.9-litre petrol engine with electric motors. Official economy figures have yet to be announced, but Toyota have reportedly said the new Prius is 18 per cent more efficient than the previous-generation model.
