2017 Ford Fiesta production starts as launch looms

The new Ford Fiesta is almost here, with production of the next-generation supermini in right-hand drive well underway prior the car's UK debut this July.

Production of the new 2017 Ford Fiesta in right-hand drive for the UK market has begun. The eighth-generation of the super popular supermini is on schedule to debut in British showrooms this July.

The new Fiesta is being built at Ford’s production plant in Cologne, thanks to a £250 million investment from the manufacturer. It’s projected that Ford will roll a new Fiesta off the production line every 68 seconds.

From launch, the new Ford Fiesta range in the UK will feature familiar trims like Style, Zetec and Titanium, along with the sportier ST-Line version and the more luxurious Vignale. This is the first Fiesta to receive treatment from Ford’s upmarket Vignale division.

In early 2018, the new Fiesta’s range will expand with the arrival of the new ST hot hatch and the debut of the Fiesta Active – a crossover version of the supermini and another first for this Ford.

The head of Ford of Europe, Jim Farley, commented: “We have taken this iconic small car’s lovable, fun and sporty-to-drive character to the next level, with a greater choice of models than ever and with advanced technologies and features that small-car customers could only have dreamed of just a few years ago.”

Pricing for the new 2017 Ford Fiesta range starts at £12,715 for the Style trim.
