2017 Kia Stinger

2017 Kia Stinger officially goes on sale in the UK

The first rear-wheel drive and GT model to be built for the UK by Kia comes with three engine options, including a 365bhp 3.3-litre V6.

Kia has opened the order books for its first GT model – the Stinger.

As the brand’s first rear-wheel drive car to go on sale in the UK, the Stinger has been six years in the making following the original GT Concept that was displayed at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.

But now in full production, the model is available to buy with prices starting from £31,995.

The pick of the bunch is the GT S version fitted with the range-topping 3.3-litre V6. Paired with an eight-speed automatic – like the rest of the line-up – it produces 365bhp and accelerates the Stinger from 0-60mph in 4.7 seconds – making it the fastest Kia ever. The top speed for the GT S is 168mph.

The other units are a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel with 197bhp, and a 244bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol. Both of these are available with the GT-Line and GT-Line S models.

Available in three trim levels – GT-Line, GT-Line S and GT S – the Stinger comes with plenty of great kit, including an eight-inch touchscreen with infotainment system and satellite navigation, emergency autonomous braking, driver attention warning and speed limit warning.

Other features include leather upholstery and dashboard, heated seats and steering wheel, automatic air conditioning, Bluetooth, smartphone compatibility and surround-sound speaker system.

The looks of the Stinger evoke GT cars of old, with the sweeping rear roofline, long bonnet and short overhangs giving it stylish looks.

The top-end GT S starts from £40,495, with the GT-Line S starting from £35,495.
