Volkswagen is introducing the new Polo to its 2017 scrappage scheme offers so that people can hand in their higher emitting diesel vehicles for a discounted new Volkswagen supermini.

VW offers customers a saving of between £1,800 and £6,000 depending on which vehicle they would like to get a discount on. The vehicle that is to be scrapped must have been owned by the customer for at least six months to comply with VW’s conditions. Vehicles need to be registered by the end of March 2018.

The new Polo is available with a £2,000 discount.

People looking to use this offer must trade in a diesel vehicle that comes under the Euro 4 emissions standards or older, and was registered before December 31, 2009.

Volkswagen is also offering the new Polo with a year’s free insurance for customers aged between 18 and 80. Prospective customers aged between 18 and 24 will have to show VW their driving behavioural data, recorded via a black box device, to comply.

Centres will also be able to provide a £500 deposit on a personal contract plan at 5.9 per cent APR.

This is the largest version of the Polo, which is now in its sixth generation, and can be fitted with an array of safety systems including front assist, adaptive cruise control and blind spot detection.

Deliveries of the new Polo will begin in January.
