2017 Volkswagen Polo reveal date confirmed

The new Volkswagen Polo supermini is coming later this year and we now know when it'll make its first public apperance. Read here for more details.

The next-generation Volkswagen Polo supermini will be officially revealed on Friday 16th June.

Volkswagen will present its new Polo to the public via an official live stream which is scheduled to start at 9am on the day of its debut. It is the sixth-generation of VW’s famous supermini and the car is likely to be more of an evolution rather than revolution over the current car.

Online reports indicate the 2017 Volkswagen Polo features a brand-new platform, new engine options and improved technology for the interior. The versatile MQB platform will be used for the underpinnings of the new Polo.

The latest infotainment system from VW will be found inside, while exterior design updates are expected to include a new front bumper, new headlights and a flatter rear window and boot.

The wheelbase is also believed to be longer and the body wider than the previous Polo, as VW have focused on improving interior practicality, especially for rear passengers.

Engines are likely to include a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol unit with various outputs and a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol unit taken from the latest Golf. An electric version of the new Polo is unlikely but a performance-focused GTI variant will probably be added at some point, featuring a 2.0-litre petrol engine.
