2018 Hyundai i20 pricing and spec released

Hyundai’s popular supermini has been given a refresh and now features improved connectivity features and safety kit.

Hyundai has announced that its new i20 will be priced from £13,995.

The i20 has been revised, and features exterior updates such as new front and rear bumpers, different fog lights, a new boot design and rear lights. It’s also been given Hyundai’s new ‘family face’ in the form of the firm’s cascading grille.

Connectivity improvements are one of the biggest differences on the i20, with models coming as standard with a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth and a DAB radio. Standard equipment elsewhere is also generous, with a rear-view camera and automatic headlights being fitted to all cars.

Safety equipment is also improved, with all trim levels minus the entry-level S coming with autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, driver attention alert and high beam assist.

SE models are priced from £15,275, and add kit such as 15-inch alloy wheels, LED rear lights, front fog lights, cruise control, rear parking sensors and electric rear windows.

Premium Nav adds 16-inch alloys, a dark grey grille, front parking sensors, climate control, automatic wipers and satellite navigation. This is available from £16,245.

Range-topping Premium Nav SE comes with keyless entry and start, a panoramic sunroof and heated front seats and steering wheel, and are priced from £17,295.

Three petrol engines are available on the i20 – the entry-level 83bhp 1.2-litre unit and a turbocharged 1.0-litre engine available with either 99bhp or 118bhp, the former being offered with a seven-speed automatic transmission. The more powerful engine can only be had with the range-topping trim.

The i20 has been a big success for Hyundai, with the South Korean firm selling 125,000 units in the UK since it was introduced in 2009.

Tony Whitehorn, President and CEO Hyundai Motor UK, said: “While the small car segment has been a challenging place for all manufacturers over the past few years, we expect the New i20 to build on its predecessor’s solid and stable sales performance by offering customers the mix of connectivity, safety and efficiency that they demand.”

The new i20 is on sale now, and also comes with Hyundai's five-year unlimited mileage warranty.
