Order books are now open for the new Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet, with prices starting at £115,910.

Three configurations of the luxury convertible are available. The entry level model is the S 560 AMG Line, which is powered by a new 4.0-litre biturbo V8 engine. It develops 436bhp and 700Nm of torque, meaning 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 155mph. Fuel economy is a claimed 31.4mpg, with CO2 emissions of 204g/km.

Next up is the Mercedes-AMG S 63, which too features a 4.0-litre biturbo V8, although here producing 604bhp and 900Nm of torque, resulting in a 0-60mph time of 4.0 seconds. Fuel economy is claimed at 28.8mpg, with 225g/km of CO2 emissions.

Topping the range is the S 65, propelled by a 6.0-litre V12 engine developing 621bhp and 1,000Nm of torque, allowing the Cabriolet to do 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds. As for efficiency, fuel economy is claimed at 23.5mpg with CO2 emissions of 272g/km.

Both AMG models, like the S 560, are limited to a top speed of 155mph — although this can be extended to 186mph with an optional AMG Driver’s package.

Standard features on the S 560 include 19-inch alloy wheels, a Burmester surround sound system, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, wireless phone charging and air suspension.

With the S 63 comes the addition of an AMG sports exhaust, sports suspension and larger 20-inch alloy wheels.

The flagship S 65 gains a number of high-tech features as standard, including Night View Assist Plus which uses infrared imaging to detect hazards, a 360-degree parking camera, and an Intelligent Light System with Swarovski crystals.

With order books now open, Mercedes-Benz is expecting first customer deliveries in Spring 2018.
