2018 Paris Motor Show guide: All you need to know

The biennial event is upon us, so we give you all the important information about the two-week event and what to expect.

Motor shows are always exciting affairs for manufacturers and car fans alike, with the Paris Motor Show opening to the public on October 4.

The event in the French capital takes place every two years – alternating with the Frankfurt show – and it gives manufacturers the chance to show off their latest models to journalists and the general public.

Motoring writers and journalists will be getting the first glimpse of the new production models, concepts and displays from October 2, before doors open to the public two days later so they can see what will be coming to the roads and forecourts in the near-future.

Although a select few major brands won’t be setting up exhibits over the next fortnight, a lot of the world’s favourite manufacturers will be on site at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Peugeot, Renault and Skoda.

Who is at the Paris Motor Show?

No brand wants to be outdone by another, so of the 17 major brands exhibiting at Paris, the majority will be revealing new models and cool-looking concepts for people to lay their eyes on.

The main German contingent of Audi, BMW and Mercedes will be joined by Porsche and Smart, while French brands will be offering plenty at their home show. Citroen, DS, Peugeot and Renault will all be taking the covers off new models, with other companies such as Hyundai, Seat and Skoda revealing all-new productions cars at the event.

What will be the cars to look out for?

As with any other motor show, there are a few models of extreme interest that you should try to see. With market favourites getting new versions and all-new cars making their first appearance, there is plenty for the public to eye up before many of the vehicles make their market debut next year. Here are the cars we think will steal the show:

Where and when is the show taking place?
