Mazda has announced pricing for the fourth-generation 3, which starts from £20,595.
Customers will initially have the choice of five different trim levels and two 2.0-litre engine units – a 120bhp petrol and a diesel-powered 114bhp option. The more efficient SkyActiv-X petrol unit is expected to arrive at a later point.
The petrol comes with cylinder deactivation and is paired to a 24V mild-hybrid system, which both help improve fuel economy. It can be fitted to all trim levels, while the diesel can’t be paired to the top GT Sport Tech trim.
The Japanese brand has ensured that the model comes with an impressive level of equipment from the base spec – with standard kit including a colour head-up display, traffic sign recognition, radar cruise control and LED headlights. Sat-nav, smartphone connectivity and an eight-speaker audio system are also fitted.
From SE-L Lux, the next step up, the 3 is fitted with a reversing camera, keyless entry and heated front seats – with the Sport Lux trim featuring a frameless rear view mirror, rear privacy glass and chrome detailing.
For the next level up – GT Sport – Mazda adds black leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel and a Bose sound system, with the top-spec GT Sport Tech includes extra safety kit in the form of a 360-degree camera and driver attention alert with an interior camera.
A seven-inch TFT screen in the instrument binnacle and an 8.8-inch central display are fitted, with the infotainment screen controlled by a control dial in the centre console.

Available to order now, the Mazda 3 will be delivered from the spring.
