The compact 4x4 comes with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and the choice of a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission.

Suzuki has revealed more information on the upcoming Jimny 4x4 that is due to be released later this year.

With a boxier design than before, the fourth generation Jimny comes with a simple yet functional interior design that is all built on a robust ladder chassis that comes with four-wheel drive and has a low-range transfer box for better off-roading capabilities.

Under the bonnet will be a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 100bhp and 130Nm of torque, but despite offering more displacement than the unit found in the previous model, it is 15 per cent lighter to help with fuel efficiency.

The engine will be paired to either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. Depending on the gearbox fitted, the Jimny will have a top speed of 90mph with the manual and 87mph with the automatic.

The four-wheel drive system in the Jimny can be switched between two-wheel and four-wheel drive alongside the low range transfer gear that offers more torque to aid with traction on slopes.

Inside, the car comes with 377 litres of boot space – 53 litres more than in the last model – and all the materials used make it easy to maintain if it gets dirty. The central console is centred around a seven-inch touchscreen at higher trim levels, which includes Bluetooth and smartphone connectivity.
