2021 Audi SQ2 updated with improved performance and new tech

The 296bhp model is one of the fastest small crossovers around

Audi has updated its sporty SQ2 crossover with a revised look, new technology and enhanced performance.

The updated S model follows on from the standard Q2’s updates, including upgraded headlights, a revised grille and a front end that is inspired by past Audi models.

It continues to use the same 296bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine as before, which comes paired to a seven-speed S tronic automatic gearbox and quattro all-wheel-drive, though has received a number of slight performance upgrades.

These include enhanced responsiveness in the lower rev range thanks to a revised valve system, along with a lighter clutch and sportier exhaust setup. It means the SQ2 can sprint to 60mph in just 4.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 155mph. In terms of running costs, Audi claims this crossover can return 34mpg, with CO2 emissions of 188g/km.

All SQ2s come well-equipped with LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels and a sportier styling kit to separate it from the standard Q2. The quad-exit exhaust system is also another easy way to identify this sporty Audi.

In the cabin, the SQ2 comes with an upgraded 8.3-inch media display and 12.3-inch digital Virtual Cockpit system, while standard safety kit has been enhanced with autonomous emergency braking and a reversing camera.

Alongside the standard SQ2 specification, it will also be available in two further grades – Black Edition and Vorsprung. The former comes with a black styling kit, Matrix LED headlights for the first time and 19-inch alloy wheels. Vorsprung, meanwhile, gains a host of extra kit, including a panoramic sunroof, nappa leather sports seats and adaptive cruise control.

The updated SQ2 range will be priced from £38,700, with order books set to open next month.
