New 2.5-litre petrol engine

The newest addition to the 6’s engine line-up is the 2.5-litre SkyActiv-G petrol option, which employs cylinder deactivation to help reduce fuel usage while cruising on the motorway. Mazda claims it can do 42.1mpg with emissions of 153g/km CO2, but it makes the car feel very exciting to drive – much better than your standard family saloon or estate in fact. The engine’s paired to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Exterior design has been tweaked

Mazda has given the 6 a newly-designed facial that makes the car appear lower to the ground and wider for a more dynamic look, while new headlights are thinner and wider than before – incorporating the fog lights and LED indicators. New alloy designs are also on offer, while the exhausts have been positioned further out on the rear bumper for a sportier look.

To add further quality to the 6, Mazda has fitted the interior with top quality materials, such as Nappa leather upholstery, Sen wood trim and suede-finish materials, as well as a range of colour combinations. Wider and more comfortable seats have also been incorporated for additional support, alongside a refined instrument panel and a new eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system that will be available with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Suspension updates to keep it poised and more comfortable

Mazdas are well-known for being excellent to drive, but a little on the firm side. Well, the 6 now comes with a new suspension setup that makes both the saloon and Tourer much more comfortable without affecting how it feels to drive. The steering still feels accurate despite the softer ride, helping both 6 models really nice to be in.

Additional safety kit as standard

To make the 6 more attractive to customers, Mazda has fitted it with more safety equipment as part of the i-Activesense system. It comes with a 360-degree around-view camera, radar cruise control for automatic transmission models, intelligent speed assistance with traffic sign recognition, adaptive LED headlights and an active bonnet – which reduces the force of an impact on a pedestrian.
