A look at Skoda’s exciting electrified future…

What can we expect from Skoda's push into electrification?

We’re in the midst of the electric vehicle revolution, so it’s no surprise to see more and more manufacturers putting themselves into the mix of the battery-powered market.

Skoda is one of the latest to get involved, with a couple of cars in the pipeline and the potential for more in the near future. Here’s what to expect from the Czech firm… 

Superb iV

Kicking off Skoda’s foray into the world of electrification is the Superb iV, which is set to arrive to market in September. This plug-in hybrid pairs a 1.4-litre with an 85kW motor to produce a combined 215bhp.

Better still, CO2 emissions of less than 40g/km will make it a seriously appealing option to company car buyers, while it’s also expected to be capable of 31 miles on electric power alone. 

Citigo e iV

Skoda’s first all-electric machine with be a battery-powered version of its Citigo — using the same technology as its Volkswagen e-Up! and Seat Mii Electric siblings. Believed to be reaching the UK in early 2020, the Citigo e iV is said to be capable of 164 miles between charges. 

Vision iV concept to make it to production?

Though not confirmed, rumour has it Skoda could put the striking Vision iV concept into a production form — likely as an electric crossover. It could use the impressive design of the original, albeit in a slightly softened form as a result of legislation.
