A new scheme could see you buy a brand-new Tesla model 3 for under $25,000 after incentives in California, USA.

A brand-new Tesla model 3 could cost you $25,000 (which works out to roughly £19,000 in UK money) after incentives in California, USA.

Currently introducing the car to the market at $35,000, the equivalent of nearly £27,000 here in Britain, California Air Resources Board have added the Model 3 to their list of eligible vehicles for the Clean Vehicle Rebate Program (CVRP).

Well what does this mean? Basically, any Model 3 car owner in California will be eligible for the scheme, which could result in a massive decrease in price – by over $10,000 in some cases.

Although the rebate size will vary dependant on the buyer, the majority of prospective owners should get their hands on the car for around $25,000 after federal tax credit.

However – it is worth noting that buyers eligible for the rebate scheme have to be earning under $150,000 per year or $300,000 if the car is in joint names.

Although prospective buyers will have to pay the full asking price initially, they can then apply for the federal tax credit and CVRP rebate which should see them gain a healthy amount of cash back.
