Act quick: 5 soon-to-be-replaced cars available with great offers

With new models on the way, now can be a great time to pick up an outgoing version of a new car at a great price

While the coronavirus pandemic might have delayed the launch of some of their new cars, manufacturers are now gearing up to showcase a whole host of new metal.

These new models will impress with their efficiency improvements and new technology, but both of these things come at a price. So, if you’re not too fussed about having the latest new car and tech, choosing a car that’s soon to be replaced could mean you scoop a fantastic offer.

Here we choose five outgoing cars that are available with great deals, but act quick, as they won’t be around for much longer…

Skoda Octavia

While Skoda’s new fourth-generation Octavia is already available to order and will arrive in showrooms in July, don’t go thinking the outgoing model isn’t worth your consideration. Thanks to a 2017 facelift it still looks fresh, while it also comes with loads of kit as standard. Whether you choose it in hatchback or estate form, it’s also impressively spacious, too.

Plus, because it’s set to be replaced, some fantastic offers are available. It’s available with a large £3,500 deposit contribution, and a low 4.1 APR rate adds to the appeal. What’s more, to help at this financially challenging time, Skoda will cover the first three monthly payments (in addition to the £3,500).

BMW 5 Series

With a facelifted BMW 5 Series due to be unveiled, now is a great time to look at the soon-to-be-replaced model. With changes on the new car not set to be too significant on the revised model, the outgoing 5 Series saloon and Touring (estate) models are worth considering. A high-quality interior and enjoyable drive can still compete with virtually brand-new models from Audi and Mercedes.

The offers are also phenomenal at the minute. In the more useful Touring guise, and with the efficient and punchy 530d variant, BMW is offering a massive deposit contribution of £11,413.68. The amount comes from a combination of BMW UK, your BMW dealer and BMW Financial Services, and takes nearly 20 per cent off the list price of the car. A 1.9 per cent APR rate is also very low for a premium car like this.

Audi A3 Cabriolet

Both hatchback and saloon variants of the new Audi A3 are already available to order now, though some versions of the outgoing A3 are still available – S and RS models, for example, as well as Cabriolet.

With Audi unlikely to offer the A3 as a convertible again due to little demand for drop-tops these days, this could be your last chance to pick up an A3 Cabriolet. And it’s certainly a good time to do so, with Audi offering a chunky £4,500 deposit contribution towards this model, though a 6.5 per cent APR rate is quite steep. Opt in and you’ll be treated with a comfortable and refined convertible, which still has a fantastic high-quality interior.

Seat Leon

With the Seat Leon being based on the same platform as the Skoda Octavia and Audi A3, it’s not a massive surprise that a new version of this Spanish hatchback is also arriving this year. While featuring plenty of new technology, it’s arguably not as stylish as the outgoing car, which it shares the vast majority of its engines with.

It means the old Leon is a fantastic choice as your next car, especially with Seat offering a £3,000 deposit contribution on both the five-door Hatchback and Estate variants. Based on a Leon ST Dynamic with the 113bhp 1.0-litre petrol engine and a £1,914 deposit, you could get behind the wheel for just £221 per month over a four-year arrangement.

Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio

Following an update for the regular Giulia at the start of this year, Alfa Romeo recently showcased an updated version of the sporty Quadrifoglio variant. It’s a pretty minor update, though, and is limited to light styling tweaks and additional safety and connectivity features.

But given its wonderful 503bhp 2.9-litre bi-turbo V6 remains, you may as well act quickly and go for an outgoing 2019 model year model, especially with the Italian firm’s generous discounts. With a £4,500 deposit contribution available, as well as a 3.9 per cent APR rate, it makes a lot of sense to choose this model.
