Alfa Romeo 4C Spider order books now open

The convertible version of the Alfa Romeo 4C sports car – the 4C Spider – is now available to order, with prices starting from £59,500.

Built around the same ultra-lightweight carbon fibre monocoque as the 4C Coupe, the new 4C Spider features minimal structural enhancements, with the only obvious addition being its cloth roof. Other minor additions to the Spider model include new unique silver or dark finish alloy wheels and projector-style xenon headlamp covers – standard on the Spider but only optional on the Coupe.

Standard specification has also been enhanced over the Coupe model, as the Spider comes with an upgraded audio system, parking sensors, cruise control, a bespoke car cover and luxury floor mats. On the options list is a new air intake system, designed to provide additional cooling to the transmission for those who want to take it out on the track.

On the refinement front, Alfa Romeo has said that it has paid special attention to ensuring that wind intrusion is kept to a minimum when it comes to folding the fabric roof back. Also, for those who want the versatility of a hardtop, Alfa is launching a carbon fibre hardtop roof as an optional extra at a later date.

Powering the 4C Spider is the same 237bhp 1.8-litre petrol engine as featured in the Coupe model. This delivers a top speed of 160mph and a zero to 60mph sprint time of less than 4.5 seconds.

At £59,500, the new Alfa Romeo 4C Spider is priced at £14,500 more than the 4C Coupe.
