All-new Audi Q7 launch date and prices announced

Pricing and specification details have been revealed for the next-generation Audi Q7 premium SUV. Orders for Britain start this April and first deliveries begin in August. Prices will start from £50,340.

The most striking difference in the styling of the new seven-seater Q7 is the new hexagonal front-grille, reminiscent of that found on the latest TT and the upcoming second-generation R8 supercar. Audi’s new Q7 is also significantly lighter than its predecessor, shedding up to 325kg in total comparatively according to its makers. This weight loss will benefit both the handling and efficiency of Audi’s large SUV.

A lot of the weight saving can be put down to the new, lighter suspension which alone cuts 100kg off the total weight. The body shell, meanwhile, is also over 70kg lighter thanks in part to the introduction of aluminium doors.

From launch, the new Q7 will be offered in two specifications and both use a 3.0-litre TDI diesel engine with 268bhp, hooked up to an eight-speed tiptronic automatic gearbox. Audi’s quattro four-wheel drive set-up is standard for the new Q7.

A 215bhp version of the 3.0-litre TDI, which should offer greater efficiency, will be available for the new Q7 later this year, most likely during the summer. A 3.0-litre TFSI petrol unit and an e-tron version combining a V6 diesel and electric motor will both reportedly join the range at some point in the future as well.

Standard equipment for the entry-level SE trim version of the new Q7 includes 19-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery and LED daytime running lights. An infotainment device that supports voice commands and smartphone apps will also feature.

The higher-spec S Line trim, which’ll start from £53,835, uses 20-inch alloy wheels. It also adds high beam assist function for the headlights, sports body styling, front sports seats and privacy glass.
